Happy Birthday Jo!

I wanted to do an entry on my first time cutting up a whole papaya, but, of course, Jo is always more important than an overripe fruit

Happy 23rd Birthday to you dear Jo! We love you always! (Even though we still know that you cannot cut a square cake.)

We had dinner at Miss Saigon, a Vietnamese restaurant in Bugis. I had my all-time favourite: Grilled Chicken and Spring Rolls Vermicelli. However, it was not very nice as I have tasted better ones :(

I think that every year, as we grow a year older, we have to become more mature. So that means no loud birthday song singing and not much camwhoring :(

Jo, her cake and five candles'
Her cake only had two big and two small candles. So we made her hold the last small candle :D

A Rush of A Random Thought

It is rare that I am updating my blog rather regularly these days. But since my class was so-called cancelled, I still have about 8974597834 hours (actually, just three) to kill.

Not many frequent here any more. I don’t blame them since I did not make the time nor effort to actually maintain the bond. So, if you read past archives, you will notice that I don’t really blog really deep and personal stuff. Usually it’s about my random days or something I want to share or pictures I want to post.

I guess having 8974597834 hours to kill just puts your gears in your mind to work. So, beware, it may be a long, random, (perhaps) boring and wordy post.

Ja Ne Elisia

Yesterday, I took a nap after a Screwdriver and woke up at 4 in the morning to see Elisia off at the airport. She should have landed by now.

Perrine and James were there as well. I arrived in a cab (that drove at 110km/h) just after the family was done checking in. So we settled at a cafe, had some drinks and talked till it was time for them to board their plane.

As we parted ways when they entered the transit area, I felt this familiar stab of pain in my chest. It took quite a lot of will power to push those tears back to where they came from. I guess it is a bit silly to cry over this goodbye.

After seeing the last of Elisia from the viewing gallery, Perrine, James and I sat down at Coffee Bean and started talking. Well, Per fell asleep while James and I chatted :) After an hour or so, she left for home while he was being ARNG and accompanied me to some place to “poke more needles into my finger/hand”. (I needed a translator and darling Jennifer was too tired to get out of bed.)

Man, I don’t know which to be more stunned at: the fact that blood splurted when The Man poked or when no blood came out at all.

No, that was not acupuncture. It was some method of poking needles to let the blood flow out or something since it was a blood clot and the blood is not flowing (or something like that). The Man (I don’t really know whether to label him as a doctor or physician so let’s stick to “The Man”) probably poked me more than 25 times around my hand and finger and squeezed quite an amount of blood from those holes :?

After the 20th hole or so, he turned to James and asked him (in Chinese), “Doesn’t she feel pain?” Well, I was pretty calm throughout the whole process while James did the cringing and wincing for me. And, well, I guess I could tolerate the pain. Felt pretty nice actually

But my left hand felt pretty sore after the whole treatment. Not to mention the large bruises on the back of my palm and my wrist.

Bruise
The greyish patch at the back of the palm is actually a large bruise.

Bruise
Another large bruise at the wrist.

Bruise
Pinky still looks swollen :(

The Eight of Us

(I’m sorry for this odd title. But somehow, I don’t know how to put “7ners” in the title for this entry.)

Last night, it was one of the final gatherings for all eight of us before Elisia leaves for the States for her studies. It is such a nice timing as Peiwen is back from Down Under and PK is back from her attachment in China. So, well, lots of goodies from them :D

We had dinner at Hog’s Breath Cafe at CHIJMES where Soffie and I shared some chicken main course.

It was like a farewell dinner as well as celebrating Perrine’s 22nd ;)

Oh, yes. During our e-mail discussions, Jo was asking whether there were any funky dress codes this time. (The last gathering was for my birthday celebration last month and I requested everyone to turn up in either a dress or a skirt.) And somehow, no one really came up with a dress code. So when Soffie, Jo, PK, CJ, Peiwen and I met up at City Hall, we were quite surprised to find that we were wearing either black, white or grey-toned clothings. Then Peiwen commented that we were like in mourning

Well The Dogs were Barking at The New Moon

Whistling a new tune
Hoping it would come soon
And the sun was wondering if it should
Stay away for a day
‘Til the feeling went away
And the sky was falling on the clouds were
Dropping and the rain
Forgot how to bring salvation
The dogs were barking at the new moon
Whistling a new tune
Hoping it would come soon
So that they could die

I can’t believe that amidst all that’s going on, Nelly Furtado is my source of relief from all these… mess.

Anyway, Moonlight is buried in Jun Wei’s garden. We both know she will be somewhere happier. Hammy Heaven, I’m sure.

One of the things I hope to achieve this year in 2007 is to blog more regularly. So far, it’s not going as planned, I’m afraid. It seems like too many things have happened between the last post and this. Too many events, too many feelings. Too confused, lost and hurt. But, gah, I wish I could do something about… everything.

I watched Death Note 2: The Last Name on Wednesday night. It was a nice movie that I’ll probably only watch it once. I think I still prefer the manga better.

Absolut Vodka I love Absolut Vodka :P And the SPCT chalet from Wednesday to Friday sure provided me with Raspberri and Vanilla :D The thing is that I kinda mixed it with ice cream soda not to mention having Chivas with jasmine tea, I got a little too tipsy  I got better in the end but not after vomiting, suffering chills and a splitting headache. Meeh. I wonder how everyone could put up with me :?

Soffie’s 21st

It was Soffie sis’ surprise celebration on Thursday.

We had dinner at this really fancy place called Giraffe. Surprisingly, I could not find a single main course on the menu that made me interested. Somehow, if I liked something, there is always some other weird combination to not make me what that item after all

I was pretty tempted to get the lasagne but it had beef (Soffie got it and let me have some. A definite to kill for!) so I settled for some Japanese-Korean glass noodles with mushrooms. The serving was not large but I could barely finish up the last few forkfuls because the meal made me feel rather full with the amount of oil and gravy. (Which makes me wonder why Perrine did not feel the same way since we had the same thing.)

I feel really silly for letting slip about saving my stomach for the cake. It was meant to be a surprise! Arg!

But the cake was really lovely. Home-baked chocolate banana cake. Kudos to Amanda’s godmother!

Elisia did her usual here’s-what-I-got-for-you-in-one-of-my-overseas-trip thingy and gave us Milky Way bars, Ice Cream Skittles (Limited Edition), cherry-flavoured Hershey’s kisses and Starbursts (my favourites!)

Felt rather detached somehow but I guess everyone had their fun :)

And, yeah, everyone commented on how black I’m becoming. Hell, I’m even darker than Soffie right now!

First day of e-Learning week and I spent the day sleeping at home. Cough syrup is a great replacement for sleeping pills. e-Learning sucks, by the way. I would rather go school than have another 101 assignments dumped at me. Rawr.
