Hey, I’m an Aunt!

And I only found out about two weeks ago. (Thanks for forgetting me Mom.)

My eldest cousin (on my Mom’s side) threw a luncheon at Carlton Hotel to celebrate her son’s first month. Do not be fooled by the shabbiness of the exterior of this hotel because the moment we stepped through the main doors into the lobby of that hotel, Nicole and I went, “Wow.”

The food was really good too, I must say. The black pepper beef dish was my favourite next to the bread pudding :)

Dylan is simply an adorable baby. And like all babies do, he (more or less) slept throughout the whole event :D

She Finally Got One!

What I meant by the above was that my mother has finally gotten herself a handphone! Which is a really cool ladies’ design Nokia can’t-remember-the-model phone.

And it’s 972349026 times better than all my phones put together

Hiatus?

I have been so busy for the past week that I am so tempted to call for a hiatus until this crazy semester ends.

The new year went interestingly great. I have not been liking the Lunar New Year much since four years ago. My grandfather passed away before the CNY and because of some superstitious thingy, immediate relatives of the dead are not able to go visiting for 100 days lest they bring about ‘bad luck’.

So that particular year, New Year was spent like a holiday. A day to rest at home or to spend time with the family (we went to Sentosa that year).

So, as I was saying, I was not excited about the New Year at all. But somehow, my family went visiting for all three days! And I was supposed to be mugging for my exam paper right after the weekend holidays!

In order to cram while visiting, I brought along my notes to study. Unfortunately, the constant distractions from cousins, relatives, loud noise, food and the One Eyed Monster (the television) made me chuck my notes aside and involve in a game of mahjong.

Anyway, I’m doing this rather late but hey, as they say, better late than never! :)

Reunion Dinner 2006

This is a rather delayed post. (Only because I was waiting for my sister to transfer the photos from her Nikon to the computer.)

My family on my dad’s side had our reunion dinner super early this year. Exactly two weeks earlier. For those who are confused, we usually have reunion dinners on the eve of the Lunar New Year (which falls on the 29th this year).

If one has been reading my blog for more than two years, one would remember that I have this cousin Natalie (now 13-years-old) who is addicted to this card game called Dai Dee. And if one remembers this blog entry, one would recall yours truly trying to please her by playing at the dinner table.

Anyway, for the third year running, we cousins were playing Dai Dee again.

This year though, we have a new addition to the family: Cousin Esther.

Because my 15-year-old sister Nicole has “brainwashed” Esther’s older sister Abigail when she was a baby, my 17-year-old brother Anders and I are attempting to “brainwash” Esther in hope that she would like us ask much as Abigail likes Nicole.

(Abigail only attaches herself to her parents and Nicole. Apparently, she doesn’t interact with the rest of us.)

Enough talk. Here are the pictures :)

Happy Birthday Dad! + Sweet Child Turns 2!

Yes, this domain has been around for two years. So, yay!

It came quite a long way to where it is now. It was (and still is) my personal domain. But, much lesser information (on myself) and content (for visitors) is up. And no, I don’t really plan on doing much besides a layout revamp that would probably be up after 8947509348 gazillion years…

Just kidding. But that shows how busy I am with school.

And on another note, it’s my father’s birthday. So,

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Grandma’s 80th Birthday

On Saturday, my relatives (on Mother’s side) gathered at CHIJMES to celebrate Grandmother’s 80th birthday. I found it extremely odd at this so-called sudden celebration because as far as I’ve lived for 20 years, my family has never celebrated her birthday before.

We had (if I remember correctly) a 10-course dinner at Lei Garden.

Lei Garden at CHIJMES:

Top Cantonese restaurant, Lei Garden offers an innovative, elaborate and extensive menu with over 120 dishes ranging from dim sum, nutritious tonic soups, sharksfin, abalone and birds’ nest delicacies to excellent seafood, meat and vegetarian favourites, full of wholesome gourmet flavour.

There are altogether 11 private dining rooms with a total capacity of 150 guests. There is a two-tier aquarium built from ceiling to floor.

My uncle booked one of the private dining rooms on the second floor with three tables. I found it unfair that Allan brought Ling without telling me and Jolene. If he did, we would have brough our SOs too.

Oh well.

Pictures to come—next time.
