How I Spent My CNY 2005

I could not post yesterday as I was badly—and still am—sunburnt.

Before I plunge into the story of how I got sunburnt, let me recount how I spent the Lunar New Year.

The first day was the usual going-to-grandmas’-houses. At my maternal grandma’s side, guess who was there again? Yes! Golden!

This time, my younger sister had brought along her digital camera. Pictures are definitely much clearer than my Motorola E398.

Golden, why won't you look here?

I should have worn my blue one…

After the visiting, Wil asked me to watch Constantine with him. I admit I wasn’t at all interested in that movie. But that movie turned out to be rather okay.

In my last entry, I said that I rotted the whole day on the second day. Only because all my siblings were busy entertaining my cousin Abigail.

Abigail had a habit of washing her hands. So she would request to go to the toilet every now and then. When I told Jun Wei that, he said she had OCD

Smile, Abby!
I took this picture of her smiling!

Ewe. Her mucus is showing.

It’s blur. But it’s her.

On the third day, I went to Wild Wild Wet. It’s a water theme park like Sentosa’s now extinct Fantasy Island. Only that it’s smaller. And less fun<em>ner.

However, I would highly recommend one ride that really made me scream/squeal—Slide Up. Two people sit on this float and you slide down this really steep U-shaped ramp and slide back and forth. This ride really took my heart away. Literally.

Another thing I really enjoyed would be the swimming pool which has motorised waves making me feel like I’m swimming in a choppy sea. I even bothered to count the number of waves they emit at one wave session. 350 waves :P

The aftermath of the whole Wild Wild Wet episode left me in great pain. I bet hell feels much worse

I can’t smile. It’s painful.

Rotting…

I can’t believe it. But I rotted my day away at home today.

Well, not really. My Gu Gu (youngest Aunt on my dad’s side), her husband and coming two-year-old cousin Abigail came over to my place—not to visit, but—to fix up the computer.

Will post more tomorrow (with pictures!)

Reunion Dinner 2

Okay so my other entry the other time was about reunion dinner with my relatives at my dad’s side. This time’s mom’s.

I enjoy going to my mom’s side only because she has like, twelve siblings, and so, cousins of various ages can be found there.

This year, there aren’t any small babies stealing the limelight. Oh, no. This year, it’s a dog. Yes, and mind you, it isn’t those small-puppy kinds.

Everyone, meet Golden, a three-year-old Golden Retriever. Mind you, it’s a she (darn, I kept referring her as ‘him’ all night

And her again

Golden
Ain’t she just cuuute?

Golden
Stick your tongue out!

Golden
I’m addicted to her, I tell ya.

Golden belongs to my Xiao Jiu’s (Small Uncle) uh, girlfriend or wife. (Crap. I don’t even know!

It was so amusing to see everyone taking out their digital cameras and cellphones (that are camera-enabled) and aiming the lens straight at Golden but can never really manage to get a decent shot of her.

Everyone who wanted to have a picture with her tried in vain to make her sit still for a picture with anyone. When she seems settled and the cameras are ready, just before the shutter goes off, she starts moving or turning her head the other way. Frustrating, I tell you.

Being the impatient person I am, I decided to take pictures with those who are not as hyper-active as Golden.

Oh, does anyone remember my blog entry last year about my cousin Sze Ying? Oh, my. The way she jabbers in chinese just makes my head spin  And this year, her four-year-old brother Wei Hong is not as shy as last year and his baby-talk-cum-chinese makes it really hard for me to understand him given my atrocious command of chinese. I sincerely thought he was speaking hokkien to me!

Allan got another new phone (I seem to see him with a new model every three times I see him) and my sister was testing it out the camera functions by using me as her subject.

Finally, as usual, during all these festive occasions, the text messaging system had to lag. Think I accidentally texted Jun Wei five times straight. So, we switched to talking on the phone.

I can hear fire crackers!

Reunion Dinner

The JB trip was okay. It’s just like shopping in Singapore—only in Malaysia instead. The waiting, the bargaining… You get the idea. I’m never much of a shopper. I’m more into impulse buying :D

I’m going to try to get a cable so I can transfer pictures from my E398 to the computer. I seriously think spending SG$5 on MMS to my email is extremely pointless

Last night, my family on my paternal side had our reunion dinner. I always look forward to it because that means catching up with my cousins. I only see them once a year as I don’t even see them on Chinese New Year itself! :o

If you remember my entry for last year’s reunion dinner, my 12-year-old cousin Natalie, was very much into this card game called Dai Dee. Well, apparently, she still loves this game. So we spent our time playing that before, during, and after the dinner. Really, this girl does not know the limits

Kids these days are so lucky. They get cellphones at such a young age. So we spent a number of time checking out each others’ cellphones and snapping funny pictures with the camera-enabled ones.

Two pictures (from my E398) to remember the occasion:

Shopping

Hmm. My family and I are on our way to Johor Bahru, Malaysia, to go shopping. The first time, I should say. I wonder what’s the special occasion—besides the fact that the Lunar New Year is around the corner.

Oh, my youngest sister Judaxil will turn 12 tomorrow *beams*

allergic reaction + a good ending

phooey. forget whatever I said about not being allergic to panadol. I was - and am -scowls-

yesterday I took it when I started sneezing like a machine gun - non stop! so I popped 2 and got ready for work. just as I was about to wear my contacts, I saw this little bump below my eye. it looks like a mosquito bite and instantly, I knew it was the doing of the bloody panadol.

but I thought hey, it could be a coincidence. so I decided to wait for awhile to see if the ‘mosquito bite’ grew any bigger. it did. bloody hell.

so I had to msg my colleague to let her know I wouldn’t be going to work. and I spent every 5 minutes looking into the mirror to see how bad it swelled. the last time my eyes swelled was when I popped a tiny painkiller coz my wrist was hurting me and within 2 hours, my eyes were so swollen I couldn’t even open them

this time was a little weird. only one eye was swollen and thankfully, it wasn’t that bad.

ok. let me clear this up: firstly, wil isn’t my boyfriend! -mock glares at ebony- he’s just a good pal I met back in 2000 during obs and he was my canoeing partner for the sea expedition. that’s all. haha. I don’t have a boyfriend -rolls eyes- no one wants me. lmao.

and the cam he got? it’s a sony p10. don’t really like the design and I saw a sony v1 today in the papers. I want that cam! *hint*

so technically, it was a bad day. but no biggie since my mom creamed me the night before. but oddly, my day ended well. not just well well but really well

was chatting with jo and I was telling her to pray really hard that I can attend pk’s birthday chalet at sentosa as my mom and I were really having cold war or something. so she was wishing me all the best of luck when I told my mom this:

“mom, my friend’s birthday is on friday and she’s having a chalet at sentosa from friday to sunday. so can I go - I mean, I’m going. can?”

haha. I was deciding whether to use the tell method or the ask method since I usually go with either way. ended up we had this talk. not those really focused talks but those she-was-busy-with-something-and-I-just-rambled-on talks.

she started by saying, “then what about work?” then I don’t know why but I just told her that I wanted to quit my waitressing job. and she started asking why. why I wanted to quit. why I wasn’t happy. what was it that I wasn’t happy about.. you get the idea.

anyway, we cleared a lot of differences that was between us for the past month and not only she let me go to pk’s chalet, I could quit my waitressing job too!

so I’ll just stick to my office job in the afternoon. really need a break. it’s tiring trying to handle two jobs and running back and forth between those two.

so today, I thought I would feel better but I think that allergy reaction is lagging or something. I broke out in rashes today. no kidding. I didn’t apply anything since I didn’t know what to apply and mom wasn’t home so here I am at my workplace typing this and hoping that the aircon here would be really cold so I don’t need to keep scratching :?

and I’m still sneezing -sniffles-
