So I didn’t blog for a few weeks and I was reminded by the dashboard to upgrade to WordPress 2.8.2! Whaaat?!

Anyway, Guan and I finally went to check out the new mall in town. ION Orchard boasts to have brands like Cartier, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Giorgio Armani, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Uniqlo, Topshop and Topman along with Bimba & Lola, Boss Selection, Chaumet, Christian Audigier, Dsquared2, Diane von Furstenberg, Just Cavalli, Marc Jacobs, Patek Philippe, and Vivienne Tam, which are new to Singapore or having its own stand-alone boutiques for the first time. (Taken from here.)

After touring the floors, to us, ION was like, just another Paragon across the street. Well, not till we went to the basement to look for food. There, we saw shops that were “familiar” to us. That means stuff I can actually afford

I loved the sake bottles at Nippon-Ya! Apparently, this Japanese food boutique has an outlet at The Central and I find it a really random shop because it sold food stuff along with accessories and toys. It was so random I couldn’t differentiate half the time which were edible or not :?

Guan commented that there were a lot of Japanese food around the basement. I’m hoping that Tsukiji Gindaco would restore my faith in takoyaki. But due to the rather long queue and our tired legs, Guan decided to forgo his yakisoba and I, my takoyaki. We tried The Taiyaki’s Bacon/Egg and German Potato taiyakis and they were really good as they were stuffed with really nice fillings and the batter was crispy. It tasted like a toasted sandwich  I had initially wanted to try the chocolate batter stuffed with banana paste but it contained custard cream and the azuki looked the same as Chui Jia’s Ooki Taiyaki. Still, if I want to save money, I would still choose the chocolate ones at Ooki Taiyaki

(Okay, CJ! I’ve finally mentioned your store!)

We settled our dinner at Ginza Bairin where he had the chicken karaage curry and I had the ebi fry don. His karaage, although crispy, was rather tough and chewy. My jaws actually ached while eating just one piece. The curry was okay—sweet, not too spicy, but not the best I’ve tried. My ebi was okay—I think I’ve tasted better ones :? Anyway, for those who would like to try, I’ve found two very different reviews online here and here. (The first one made me laugh out loud!)

I guess we’ll head back to ION next time to try the other food stuff along with getting some pretty bottles of sake!

(A side note: This is my really lousy first attempt to write a food review. Haha!)

… today’s the big day!

Let me just say that no, I’m not excited and, no, I’m not nervous. I’m just very, very sleepy!

Last week the 7ners threw a hen night for me. It wasn’t anything riotous but we had fun dinnering at a pasta/pizza place and then a girls’ night at a hotel. They presented me with… cupcakes with a pair of boobs on them :? Along with two lingerie sets from Pierre Cardin. Well, thank you very much! As girly as it was

It was Lynn’s wedding last Sunday and I must say: Congrats Lynn! I’m happy for you

Anyway, I didn’t do much on the eve besides collecting the gowns and flowers. In fact, I had to settle quite a number of last minute stuff. I also did my nails :? Something that I really don’t enjoy. My french manicure is destroyed but it’s not that obvious from afar. NO MORE MANICURES FOR ME!

I should really turn in. The beautician would be here in less than three hours!

I am growing to be a rather lazy blogger. I’m sorry! But my excuse is that I take forever to edit photos and blog them properly in a post. If I feel like I don’t spend a good hour on a post (with photos), I feel like I blogged in a rather half-assed manner :?

My dad is super hilarious. He went to KL and Genting with my mom and asked to borrow my Sony digital camera. When they arrived home last night (after four days), I found only 51 photos taken! To think I cleared almost 500 photos (that’s about 1GB) for him

As Mother’s Day is this Sunday, I’d like to wish my mummy dearest a Happy Mother’s Day!

My mom
I found her expression rather comical

Guan turned a grand 21 last Saturday. I had to wake the poor boy up rather early since we did not really have much time as it’s the betrothal day as well.

The finals for SRRR were held at the Singapore River itself on Saturday. It was a very tiring experience for me because I had no rest the night before and had a full day ahead.

Everything was delayed. So Geok Cheng, Teresa and I met Jolene at Clark Quay MRT station only to head to MacDonald’s for breakfast. I think I kind of snoozed while everything was being set up. At 10 a.m. (when the first match of TP 1 and Monsters Inc. was supposed to start), the guys were still fixing the goal post and the lines. So Jolene, Joan and I went to MacDonald’s again where I had my second breakfast.

(Note to self: Depression can either starve you or stuff you.)

Part I – The Eve
Polo training on the eve of the Lunar New Year was quite a killer considering the fact that my whole body was still aching from Thursday’s circuit training. I doubt Jolene or Lilin would want to go for the coming Thursday’s cicuit training :?

After training, I just chilled with some of the team since we did not feel like going home just yet. Had some of Hotel Rendezvous‘ pastry and it’s quite good I then made my way to my maternal grandmother’s place for a steamboat reunion dinner

Amazingly, this year we were the second family to arrive because usually by the time we get there, most of them would have been done with dinner already. If you’re wondering, my relatives on my mom’s side do not eat together on a dining table because my mom has like, 12 siblings and even though not everyone turns up on the eve of the Lunar New Year, let’s just say the table can only hold less than the number of bodies present.

After dinner, most of us settled in front of the TV to watch some really badly subbed variety food show. No one changed the channel because apparently, everyone thought the other wanted to watch this dumb show. It was not until my sister asked my uncle and cousins if it was fine to switch channels then did we all find out that everyone wanted the channels switched!

Turns out the satellite at my grandma’s place is so bad that we only had three miserable channels there  So we ended up playing Pick Up Sticks. Very lame, you may say. But it’s much more entertaining than the One-Eyed-Monster. I would show some pictures if only my cousin sends them to me.

Some traditions just have to go on.

Stuck in another ball
Purple balls at Marina Square this year.

Stuck in a bunch of them
We just love getting stuck in Christmas balls

Christmas Eve, my family went to the (rather) new Velocity at Novena Square to have our dinner at Pepper Lunch. It was my third time there but the first time I tried something other than the Beef Pepper Rice. I had the Hamburger and Chicken Combo. Pretty tasty
