War of the Worlds

Missed the beginning of the show, which happens to be the happy-times-before-crisis-occurs.

War of the Worlds is one movie that kept my whole body tensed for about 80% of the whole show. I was just told by Nicole that the newspapers gave it a four star rating. Which is really good, really.

Okay, so I admit. I wanted to watch War of the Worlds because of—no, not Tom Cruise, but—Dakota Fanning. I’m sorry, I really do like her a lot.

Anyhow, she isn’t a big star. And most of her lines are usually “Mommy!” or “Daddy!” or “Robbie!” and lines like, “Daddy, you’re scaring me”, “Are we still alive?” and “Is the lightning coming back?” but the ultimate one would be “AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!”

I’m serious. Her screams are so piercing that I think Jun Wei’s ears are still ringing.

Despite all the carnage done, I really liked the movie. However, I don’t think I’ll be catching it again.

A Lot Like Love

I wasn’t interested in this movie. Really, I didn’t think much of it even after I had watched the trailer.

But Jun Wei wanted to watch it. And he even said he’ll pay for it. So I agreed to watch it yesterday. But I was the one paying instead since he did not get his allowance from his mother :?

Why wasn’t I interested? Maybe it’s just Ashton Kutcher. I don’t know why but I’m not into this dude.

Amanda Peet? Well, both of us thought that she looked like Demi Moore. That is why, I concluded, Ashton took the role, I guess.

I guess I don’t have much to say about this movie.

Just that it’s rather sexual, imo.

Ice Princess

To most people, it may seem weird to catch a movie with your boyfriend and your younger sister.

But that’s what I did.

Ice Princess wasn’t my top priority but while watching the trailer on the official site earlier this week, I decided to watch it with Jun Wei since it’s like another chick flick. Yeah, we kinda like these kinds. Unless they’re really lousy.

However, after Nicole and I watched the trailer for the second time, she went, “Hey, let’s watch this together.”

If I’d said no, she would not be able to catch it at all since I doubt any of her friends would want to watch the show. I guess it was another of those that didn’t have a good response in the states since it has (like Five Children and It) (only) started showing and only (exclusively) at GV theatres (I found out that this was a March-2005-released movie).

The movie turned out to be longer than I’d expected. It was rather touching especially it touches on a mother-daughter relationship.

Not to mention that it’s about figure skating and there’s Hayden Panettiere in it.

Funny. I guess what Jun Wei wrote for my testimonial in Friendster was rather true after all…?

She loves Shiri and so do i
She loves Jason Behr and so do i
She is a ROSWELL fan and so am i
She is not les and neither am i gay
She cld be a paedophile cos she loves
Dakota Fanning

Guys…

Five Children and It

I have been anticipating this movie ever since I saw the trailer a few weeks ago.

I guess it wasn’t really a huge hit since it (only) started showing now and only (exclusively) at GV theatres (I found out that this was a 2004 movie).

I even confused the trailers with The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe since the first scenes of both movies seemed familiar (kids entering huge gloomy-looking houses).

I thought the sand fairy seemed like a rather interesting character so I dragged Jun Wei to watch this kiddy show with me.

Well, I wasn’t sure if he enjoyed the movie. I can’t say I didn’t but I was rather disappointed, I guess.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith

When I first saw the poster for this movie, I wanted to watch it. Only because Brad was in it. No, don’t get me wrong. I’m not a huge fan of him. I’m more of a fan of his wife than him.

Actually, I wanted to watch because I liked Brad as Rusty Ryan in Ocean’s Eleven and Ocean’s Twelve. Not to mention his hairstyle seems the same.

I’ve mentioned in an entry before that in the Ocean’s series, Rusty keeps eating. In Mr. and Mrs. Smith, John’s either drinking or not.

I guess in future Brad Pitt movies, I’ll always see his character as Rusty.

Anyhow, if you’re expecting action, well, you’ll get it. But Jun Wei and I agreed (after watching the 7 p.m. sneak previews last night) that it was more of a comedy than an action movie.

I don’t want to spoil it for you, (and I really hope I don’t!) but the first scene evoked laughter among the audience with yours truly being the loudest of them all. (Okay, so I exaggerated. About me being the loudest, that is.)

The part about their names kind of give me the feeling that it was going to be funny show since their names were pretty lame. I mean, John and Jane Smith? Why not Jack and Jill?

Darn, I guess I should refrain from going on and on about the movie before I let out some juicy bits.

Anyway, I really liked these lines:

Jane: Hey stranger.
John: Hey back.

xXx: State of the Union

This movie is packed with action, loud noise, loud music, high speed trains, cars, copters and lots of explosion. Thank God GV raised their ticket prices so that I could watch it at Cathay and not turn deaf.

Missed the first 15 minutes of the movie due to yours truly. (I’m so sorry Hong Chon!) Nevertheless, it’s been interesting to watch this sequel, in which I heard that it has (almost) nothing to do with the prequel.

Pity we forgot the popcorn and drinks. I’ve got a voucher for the snacks.
